I bought these picks b/c I wanted to experiment w/ picks that supposedly provide firm griping and greater control. This pick is disappointing. Its self-described as nonslip surface. I don't see/feel that its true. The surface seems like an average pick that gets slippery when ones hands get sweaty/wet. BL--> this pick is just average, I feel no special nonslip surface. Still looking for such a surface- I'll keep experimenting w/ other picks.Dunlop Gator Grip Standard Guitar Picks .58 mm 6 Dozen
.Like a lot of you, I have tried tons of different pick over the years, and I have found the Gator Grip 1.5mm to be the best for my playing. I do rock, blues and some fusion styles and have found these to be superb for all three. This is the only pick I have found in this thickness that doesn't produce clicking and chirp, and I have tried most of the boutique brands. These picks are the same price as the Tortex picks, but IMO are much better made. Unlike the Tortex picks, these have beveled edges, and produce a much fuller, rounder sound, and even the logo's do not seem to wear off, even though this has nothing to do with play, if shows the quality. These are also a little smaller than the Tortex ones. They are the same size and shape as the Dunlop Delrin 500's, so if you tried these and liked them, you will love these, as they have much more grip. A nice size if you are coming from Jazz III's like me, and don't want a huge pick. A few reviewers have said they lose their grip when the white powder substance wears off. Not true for me at all, as the coating on this pick...not the powder is what makes it grippy. I think the powder is more for shipping purposes than for grip. I actually wash the powder off of mine when I get them as I think they feel and grip better! It comes off quickly even if you don't though. Try 'em!

.These are really good picks. They come with a lot of powder on them compared to how much is on tortex's. Without the powder they are basically the same as tortex except not as smooth. The surface is rougher and hard to explain. If I were you I would try both tortex and these picks. Overall I prefer tortex, but like these ones too.

.Overall, I love the feel and sound of these picks. No slipping when strumming.
Like the rough finish.
Very durable.
Great cost for 12 picks.

.After hearing what people say about them wearing down along the edges and their grips wearing off, I strayed away from them, until I bought a Dunlop variety pack that contained a .96 and a 1.14mm Gator Grip. They are among the best picks I've ever owned. They come in handy on guitar when you're doing heavy riffing or soloing, but I think they shine brightest on the bass. They're pretty stiff, so they dont add any clicking or string noise to your sound, but still have that characteristic pick sound that bassists want. I'm gonna order more of them, probably some 1.5 and 2mm's.
One more thing you should know, the texture in the picture is really messed up. They aren't that powdery and scratched up.
They do exactly what they're supposed to--stay in your fingers when you play. And I really prefer this grip surface over the Max-Grip because it's more subtle. It feels like you're holding a normal pick. And I really dig the rounded edge, which I think is important for good tone. I don't use heavier-gauge Tortex picks in my playing because of that clicking sound they make with their squared edges. Another thing I like about the Gator Grips is that they are smaller than the Tortex, about the same size as the Delrin 500's. I like this size because it's a nice combination of larger picks like Max-Grips and smaller picks like Big Stubby's.
I haven't experienced any wearing down yet, but I hear that's what happens to them so I'm expecting some. But that's fine, considering you get a dozen in a pack. Other than that, they are built sturdy and are extremely consistent. And the label doesn't wear off after 3 seconds of playing like the Tortex's does (that drives me crazy by the way).
This price for a dozen? I can't argue with that. For me, a dozen will last a really long time.

. I've been using the Gator Grip 0.96 thickness for about a year now and I play hard driving bluegrass on a Martin HD-35. These picks sound great when they're new, the tone they give my guitar is sharp and clean. They're a great shape and size for fast flat picking and don't slip too bad in your fingers. The only drawback I've found is that they don't last; after about an hour of really hard playing the point is worn off and rounded. This makes them even slicker to pick with but seems to really dull the tone that you get out of them, even when strumming rythme. Even though I go through a lot of them I haven't found a substitue that I like better.
When you play as hard as I do you go through a lot of them so value is questionable.

.I have liked Tortex for ages, tried these just on a fluke, I LOVE EM!!!!!!

.I like the feel of these picks in my fingers; they don't slip and they have a feel that makes my playing better. Would recommend. They are not too stiff nor too flimsy.

.Like most guitar players, I have tried a number of different picks over the years. Different gauges, materials and companies, but the Gator Grip 1.14 just play outstanding for me. Good attack, firm and durable and almost impossible to drop (even when my hands are getting sweaty during a performance). Great picks!

.Would agree with other reviewers... not much of a grip pick at all. To give you an idea... the ink/name print provides more grip then the actual intended design which is supposed to provide this feature. If there were a scale of 1-100 and these were rated say like thickness/gauge, this would be about a 5 in the no-slip/grip category.
