With an included belt-clip, the Platinum Stage is perfect for mobile instrumentalists, such as mandolin and fiddle players and other instruments which are too small or too precious for anything but a passive pickup. The price and feature set, as well as the sound, are excellent. The case looks great, but I think they missed the boat insofar as it's supposed to be worn on one's belt but, if you do that, you risk scraping up your guitar on the bare metal, very square edges of the unit. I got a 3' patch cord so I could wear this on my right hip, but the case has such sharp, hard edges that I now have to get a longer cord and wear the unit on my left hip.

.I returned this product. I found that there was a noise when I plugged in either my electric guitar, electric bass, or acoustic guitar. With some more time and effort it may have been able to find out how not to get the buzz out of the sound. Unless I just got a dud or didn't know the secret to this device I would not recomend

.I play with a large contra-dance band. The pre-amp allows me to get enough volume to be heard on solos without distortion of tone. I plan to use it on acoustic bass also.
