Taking a "modern approach to acoustic guitar tradition," the Ibanez Artwood Series of acoustic instruments has long been a source of pride and a labor of love. Now with the Artwood Vintage Series, Ibanez looks to the past for inspiration in the development of new historically influenced instruments.

The Ibanez AVN6DTS is a classic grand concert style body with an artfully distressed finish featuring a solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides, and a satin-finish mahogany neck.The combination of spruce and mahogany construction produces a bright high-end with a warm, full low-end, reminiscent of guitars associated with the acoustic boom of the early '60s.

A bone nut and saddle make this an extremely responsive instrument, reproducing delicate fingerpicking or percussive strumming with equal distinction. Other features include a herringbone rosette and Antique Nickel tuners, to complement this instrument’s aged character.

This guitar really surprised me with its great tone and quality in this price range. I lowered the bridge and adjusted the truss rod to make it even more playable. I also added Martin phosphor bronze light/medium strings which are the best compromise strings for tone and playability. My Martin D-41 hangs on the wall while I play my new Ibanez night after night. It feels like I have been playing it for decades.

.Ordered this guitar site un-seen basing my decision totally on internet research. This guitar met all of my expectations....looks and sounds just as described in many articles. It does not sound as good as my OM-21 or D-18, but that was not my expectation. The setup was perfect out of the box. I wish my Martins were setup as well from the start. I like the idea that it looks as old as me reflecting all the scars that come with age. No external branding and that's a plus for me.....just a discreet Ibanez label on the inside. It sound good, looks great, and I don't have to fear the first ding as it looks like a well-used guitar out of the box. Go buy one.....you will not be disappointed.

.I appreciate the distressed vintage appointments as I can be a bit rough on my guitars, so I'm not really worried about dinging, denting, or scratching this as it comes that way! I immediately installed an LR Baggs Lyric pickup and it's now got quite a rich, big sound when I want or need it. I wouldn't want to pay the fullbore retail price, but that's just me. It's a dandy little guitar with a big parlor sound and I expect to enjoy it for a long time.

.I have numerous High End guitars, but this little gem caught my eye. I did not need another guitar, however....I'm so glad I found this one. The guitar came ready to go(no adjustment needed). The playability and rich sound speak to a much more expensive guitar. This a new favorite, which takes me back to a different time when music was more intimate , and life was simple. Thanks for bringing this one out !!
