This a great little bass. The fit and finish can't be beat for the cost. The neck is great and the knobs even feel great to touch. The layout of the controls is the best I have played. Ibanez is really on to something with this bass. I am blown away by the clarity and punch it delivers. i just spent over an hour playing one of these and couldn't be more pleased. I recommend this instrument to anyone that enjoys playing cool instruments and are not just stuck on expensive woods and big name electronics. This axe delivers the goods the way I always imagined a high quality low priced mass produced bass should.

.I've gotten the itch to play bass again as I've not played for about 10 years and sold all of my gear so I was looking for a reasonably priced 4 string. I checked out the Squire jazz line and also the guitars from Yamaha as that was the make of my first bass and it had nice tone and was very comfortable to play. I did go to my local music store but all they want to do is hang over you while you mess around trying to find something that feels good so I read tons of reviews and compared prices and I found this bass as an open box which foot the bill for now. Construction is decent. The finish is decent. It does need some setup which I can handle on my own so that's not a big deal as it's expected with any new stringed instrument. The pickups and active electronics are pretty impressive for a bass at this price point and the tuners are decent. The body shape is a bit different but hey why not be different and maybe once I get back into this more and start to jam and maybe gig I will spend some more money for a higher end instrument. For now I'll just do scales and practice using my headphones but in time I'll be turning this thing up through my Carvin 250 watt 15" combo with a Hartke 2-10" cabinet and let my wife deal with it.

.I wanted to get back into playing bass after having not played for many many years, and this is the perfect guitar for the job. It's solid and a lot of fun to play. It's a little heavier than what I had in the past but nothing I can't get used to. I do notice some fret buzz, but I think tweaking a few things might solve that problem. It's really a quality piece at a great price! The retro look is a fantastic bonus.

.Initially used this bass to play for a community theatre pit band. Sounded great.

The Good: Came with good action. Stock strings were good, a bit too thick for my taste (I don't do slap bass, so I generally use thinner strings). Great tones from the P/J pickup combo. Pickguard looks beautiful. Finish isn't bad. Lovely to play (I put on some flatwounds and it's a dream).

Now the bad: It doesn't stay in tune for more than a day. The tuning keys vibrate like mad while playing (I legitimately taped my tuning keys to stop this). Get new tuning keys PRONTO. Neck is about the same as a Fender J, maybe thicker. Volume varies a bit, but not noticeable unless you listen for it.

4 stars; it isn't falling apart after 8 months, a miracle at this price, better than a Squier.
