Just one problem: It isn't true. I can't speak to whether or not it would fit a right-handed standard strat. Considering that it's symmetrical, I wouldn't count on it.

Check the picture. It's not even close. Notice how the body strap hook has to rest on the compartment, NOT in the inner lining. Note that the neck doesn't lay into the neck groove so that the thing doesn't even shut properly.

Pathetic, Fender. Truly pathetic.

(As a sidenote, Custom Guitar's Friend agreed with me and refunded me entirely and sent a pre-paid shipping label.)

I bought a Fender American Special Telecaster and also bought this case to go with it from my local guitar shop.

Anyways the case seemed pretty good from first look which is why I got it then and there but I was also stretched for time so I wasn't able to go other the case to detailed. I've had the case for about a month now and I really don't know what to say about it.

The case itself is functional. The storage compartment has been changed from the central singal compartment to two smaller ones on either side of the neck. Kinda cool but with the compartments smaller it means that simple 10-20ft cables can't be carried in the case unless you want to store them in the front area with the headstock. Not a huge deal but still on the negative.

The case is pretty. I like the old tweed look. The tweed on the outside is well made and appears as though it will last for quite a while. The lack luster leather binding is no where near good or even OK. I've already put a few tears in it with ease.

The interior on the tweed case is red and it's just like any other case except red. Underneath the felt on the other hand is next to nothing. There are key areas in the case that have OK padding for protection but as I said it's just OK at best.

There are three latches and they seem OK but not great. I guess they might last a year or two but no more. The carrying handle feels cheap as well. I fear that the handle will snap off at any moment.

All and all this case does function to an extent but for the price I would look elsewhere. Quality on this case, especially from a company selling this to protect their product, is laughable. I remember the originals and even the 2nd generation cases beening top notch but this one is without say passable.

.3rd coat of shellac caused the cardboard to warp and buckle. Fine after 2 -- didn't realize cardboard was sucking up liquid. Should have stopped while I was ahead.

.This is a poor quality case - opened and closed four times and the latch broke off inside the female half. This case came with a James Burton Telecaster (Upgrade) and is not what I expected with such a fine instrument.
Stay away from this case!
