Well, I just got one and couldn't be happier. I've been looking for a butterscotch Tele for some time.At the store, I compared this model to the similar American made which costs three times more. I had cash to get either one, but decided to do a comprehensive comparison before spending my money, which does not grow in trees. By the way, I already own numerous guitars made in the U.S. and Asia. All with excellent workmanship. I always look for quality, not brand names or origin of the plant.
The workmanship of both Teles was exactly the same. The neck and fingerboard were identical, so was the fretwork. Really, no difference here and this is critical to playability.
The PUs are different but both are good. I was surprised with the quality of the ceramics PU and the sound was pure Tele. The MIM Tele has a two piece body. The U.S. Model has three pieces. I could easily check that with the butterscotch finish.
Hardware was typical in both models but I heard from previous reviews that the pots in the MIM Tele are also good quality CTS. I checked them when I got home and confirmed that the electronics are identical to the U.S. models. Remember, I also have US Teles and Strats. I didn't check the output jack though. Tuners are good too.
In summary, I carefully checked and played both models. They are identically great, but one costs three times more because it is made in the U.S.
This was a no brainer to me. I can save the money for another guitar in the future. Yes, I have bad G.A.S. This MIM has the modern C neck (all my Fenders have modern C neck) which is perfect for me, as well as the 9.5" radius and mid jumbo frets. I am comfortable with either medium-jumbo or jumbo frets.
Finishing was flawless. This Special Edition Tele from Fender is a winner. I strongly recommend this guitar to any amateur or professional musician. You can also replace the PUs with whatever you want. Kudos to the Fender factory in Mexico!

.Really nice out of the box. I tuned it and recorded a little something I was working on and it sounded great. I had an American Tele that I had to sell during a divorce and to tell you the truth, this feels and sounds better. I play trough a line 6 M9 and a Fender blues Jr. Awesome!!!! If you are thinking about paying 1000$ more for the American ash, take a look at this side by side. You may save and get an American Strat or a really nice Amp. I have a Mexican start and an American and I love them for different reasons. Another word of advice for people on a budget, check out he Les Paul Studios side by side with the standards. Only big difference is the binding, inlays, and a few other small things. You'll be happy with the extra money in your pocket. Just words of advice from an old man who's been playing for a long long time. Peace! The blues had a baby and he named it rock n roll - Muddy Watters!

.This is the first guitar I ever bought from Custom Guitar's Friend. Great company to work with!! This Tele was to be the backup to my Strat. I was dubious. Out of the box the guitar was almost perfect. A couple adjustments to the bridge and I was in love with this axe. It plays like butter, has the Tele sound and I couldn't be happier.
My only critique are the bridge saddles. The strings slide on them. I remedied this by purchasing and installing the slotted saddles. Now the strings are stationary and I'm perfectly satisfied.
If you want a Fender Tele look no further. I'm amazed this guitar does not cost more. Being made in Mexico the fit and finish is superb. And I really mean that! Just get one . . . seriously!

.To me it has a very cheap feel. The barrel bridge sucks and the strings get caught up on the screws all the time and causes the strings to be different distances from each other. A few of the frets rattle above the 12 fret. You cant really play this guitar with any dynamics because it seems to lose a lot of tone and volume when you hit a note hard or strum loud. If you're looking to just strum open chords this is you're guitar. But im getting rid of it and going to look at a real guitar like a G&L or Les Paul or PRS. My 20+ year old mexican strat plays and sounds wayy better.

.The positives...this is a standard tele with an ash body
This has the nice butterscotch color. Smells full of tradition
The negatives ...this is a standard MIM tele w/o gig bag or special pickups, and cost quite a bit more than the MIM standard tele. Why because they can charge more. But the better buy is the G & L ash body tele for half the coin. Is Ash a better wood? Better is an opinion,,,,,No! Ash is a heavier wood this is a fact. and your back will vouch for that. I like Fender but I like G & L a little better, but it is also a Fender company out of Indonesia instead of Mexico. If you must have a tele okay this is a cool one. But check out G & L

.I've been wanting a butterscotch blonde Tele for years. After reading all of the excellent reviews I finally pulled the trigger. This guitar was setup perfectly (short of a minor Intonation tweak) right out of the box. It looks and plays fantastic. For pure single coil pickups they are very quiet and I love the tone. They really nail the vintage Tele tone. It plays fantastic and has quickly become my favorite guitar. (I own 12 electric guitars) This thing through a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue sounds amazing. I also purchased a Fender parts Ashtray to go over the bridge pickup mostly for looks but it is also very comfortable to play with the ashtray installed. I love this guitar and won't change a thing on it. Except strings, I'll go with 10's next time but the 9's still sound and play great!

I bought this guitar a month ago as a tier 3 used one. I've spend much time trying to figure out what the issue with guitar was and I still haven't been able to find it. So I basically got it for a fraction of its normal price (thx MF). Now, I've been playing guitar for over 30 years now . I'm not a great player by any means, but I have played a load of guitars and I can tell which is what. I bought this one, because I always wanted to have a butterscotch blond tele. I've had a standard tele in the past and I was utterly disappointed by it in every aspect: it played badly, the finish was substandard (I had a black one), the neck felt awkward, it was too heavy etc. So I was a little reluctant when I ordered this one. But I was pleasantly surprised. This guitar differs from a standard like day and night. It's way lighter, the neck feels smooth and fast and the finish is to die for! The sound is equally great (at least for what I use the guitar which is to practice and to jam with friends) and I don't see myself ever upgrading anything. I thought that I might feel like I'd prefer a '52 after I bought it, because of being stupid and wanting a made in USA guitar. But honestly, this guitar feels and looks and sounds so good to me that I cannot justify spending over a grand to replace this one. So, the bottom line, if you like butterscotch blonds (and since you're here you do) or if you're in the market for a MIM tele, get this one and don't even bother with the standard one. You will not be disappointed!Fender Special Edition Deluxe Ash Telecaster Maple Fretboard Butterscotch Blonde
.Beautiful guitar! It looks and feels great and the pick-ups are solid. It has that fantastic "tele" sound that i was looking for. My suggestions for improving the instrument might be to change the strings and adjust the neck tension rod slightly to get rid of the fret buzz.

.I am definitely a guitar beginner, so feel free to disregard this review...that being said, I'm really loving this guitar. The only other guitar I've ever owned was a Squier strat, the difference in build quality between that one and this one is obviously night and day. I haven't experienced any of the QC issues people often complain about with guitars in this price range (cracks in finish, sharp fret ends, etc.). Not sure how these pickups compare to other Teles, but I'm really enjoying them - I play it with just a little gain and get a great classic rock/blues sound with solid output. No regrets, and I would definitely recommend this guitar to other beginners who are willing to go beyond the really cheap entry level instruments but don't want to break the bank.

.Value wise ,I think fender mims are well worth the money and as close to the real mccoy as you can get.
This guitar is a real gem.I would reccomend it to both the novice and experienced player.
