Product Description
Martin's use of solid East Indian rosewood in the Performing Artist Series Custom OMCPA4 Orchestra Model Acoustic-Electric Guitar adds gorgeous tonal color and variety to its already full-sounding solid Sitka spruce top. This road-worthy model has a 14-fret cutaway for soloing. The fast and comfortable Performing Artist profile neck makes even long gigs or sessions a pleasure. Fishman's F1 Analog onboard electronics convey quality acoustic tones that excel both on stage and in studio. Other significant features of the Performing Artist Series Custom OMCPA4 include Hybrid "X" bracing usually found on more expensive models and a durable Black Richlite fingerboard.
Fishman's F1 Analog preamp system
The F1 Analog has 2 control knobs and one display. By pressing the volume button down for 2 seconds the tuner is activated. The innovative one-knob tone control lets you choose between a natural, undersaddle sound with no EQ (fully counter-clockwise) on up to a "mid- scooped" tone with emphasized treble & bass and reduced midrange. Pressing the tone knob repearedly cycles through various phase settings that improve bass response while aiming to suppress unwanted feedback. Includes case.

This is a review about the Martin OMCPA4 Rosewood. I just purchased this guitar and I am excited and very happy about it. I have only had the guitar for a couple of days and if I remember I will re-review after a year or so. As you have read in other reviews this is the performing artist series orchestra model. I am neither a performer or an artist. In fact I possess very little guitar skill whatsoever. I would say I am a little more than a beginner and not quite an intermediate player. I play mostly chords and strum to Christian music. In many ways this guitar is too much for me right now, but this review is for folks like me. People who want to play better and have a good instrument to improve on. So why would some 55 yo pay over a thousand $$$ for a guitar that he can't play? First, the size of the orchestra model makes it perfect for the strumming I do in my office. It sits on the lap better than my 1972 Fender Dread and for me is very comfortable to hold because of the orchestra size. In fact I think the orchestra size is the perfect size for office playing. I am a big guy around 235lb and I like how it feels on my knee – wonderful to hold. I am also not a rich guy but I like nice things and I have learned the value of going quality over cheap. The spruce top and rosewood back and sides are gorgeous. Just because this is a no frills guitar doesn't mean it is not beautiful and extremely well made. In reality I probably can't tell the difference in tone between the rosewood and sapele models (others with a good ear can) but I personally like the darker rosewood look more than the reddish sapele. Now I have already said that I am not very good so I need something easy to play. The action from the factory is perfect and low as you can get without buzz. This is way easier to play than the Fender I have had forever. If you are a hack like me you need this type of action! Martin is the Cadillac of acoustic guitars and I am glad I have a quality guitar that I can hand down to my son. This is a multigenerational instrument. OK, so it is easy to play, comfortable, beautiful and a Martin. So what about the sound? It is high tone like a Taylor but it is brand new and not seasoned in so I don't hold that against it. My 44 yo Fender sounds way better at this point but I can live with that as the Martin seasons. The tuners are smooth and the nut is slippery letting the strings move in concert with the tuners. Maybe that is because this is new but I like being able to make a slight crank on the nut and have my electronic tuner move the needle. I also like having the tuner and electronics on this guitar because I always seem to misplace my portable tuner. I won't amp it up but one day I would like to play a worship song in front of my church. If that happens the electronics will be nice to have. So for you hackers out there that want to work toward being a better player this guitar will motivate you to practice. I am super pumped about it. The Orchestra Model – Yes, Martin – Yes! This guitar is was the way to go for me.Martin Performing Artist Series Custom OMCPA4 Orchestra Model Acoustic-Electric Guitar Rosewood
.I have other nice guitars but this is the best of the lot. The rosewood is warm sounding and when I play on stage, sound men comment how good the guitar sounds and the quality. I get nothing but compliments on my sound when I play.
