Its all solid-wood construction produces a tone that will rival some of the most expensive guitars made today. To start with, Martin selected a Sitka spruce top as the basis of the tone engine. They chose Sitka spruce because it’s a very expressive tonewood that produces the right amount of tone, volume, and dynamics. To augment the crisp tone of the Sitka spruce, the back and sides is fashioned of solid sapele mahogany. Sapele adds just the right amount of crispness and bass to the sound of the guitar. Unlike laminate or layered woods that are stiff and lack bottom end and resonance, a solid wood instrument has crystal clear highs, a punchy bottom end, and lots of sustain.

The Martin Performing Artist Series GPCRSGT Grand Performance Acoustic-Electric Guitar is designed using the Grand Performance body. The GP body is a little deeper than your typical 000 or OM guitar. The 4.5 in. depth gives you added volume, while producing an even tone across the entire musical spectrum. The combination of tonewoods and body produces an instrument that is extremely expressive and dynamic. It will have all the power of a dreadnought, blended with all the balance of a smaller auditorium-sized guitar.

I purchased this guitar to learn to play,I have purchased other guitars & I for one reason or another was not guite happy with the sound or the fit to my body size,this Martin acoustic grand performance ,is a good fit for me,and the sound is outstanding. Dealing with musicians friend over the phone was a great experience.my guitar arrived to my door in perfect condition I am very pleased with the guitar in every way. THANKS musicians friend.

.My first Martin! This guitar has everything you would expect of the best, a big distinct sound, solid construction and a beautiful make. I especially love the ebony fingerboard, which has a smooth consistent feel that you really don't get from rosewood. Great guitar.
The only complaint I have is with the uma port. I expected some kind of driver or interface for recognizing the guitar. Cubase can't see it. Its no use here.
